Our Mission
Inner Sound Habitats (ISH) seeks to educate the community about the wildlife and history of the Long Island Sound around the Lynde Point Lighthouse in Old Saybrook. ISH will make the Lynde Point Lighthouse a publicly accessible space where children and adults can learn about the area’s unique ecology and history.

Preservation
The Lynde Point Lighthouse has stood for over 200 years since its construction in 1803. ISH will make sure that it remains a part of the Old Saybrook coastline for years to come.
Education
Inner Sound Habitats will create a welcoming space for children and adults to learn about the vibrant and diverse wildlife that call the Long Island Sound home.
Memory
Everything that ISH does is guided by honoring the legacy of Elizabeth ‘Ish’ Clevenger who passed away in April 2023 and was both a frequent visitor to the lighthouse and a passionate wildlife advocate.
